Each piece begins with a desire to showcase emotion with movement; I use oil paint and water-based Chinese calligraphy ink to reveal them in my work. Rather than producing meticulously-detailed likenesses of actual events and images, I regenerate and uplift. I utilize classical elements of paintings and transform them with a splash and wash technique and leaving the ideas in the paintings unchanged. The oil merges with water; the muddled pool can be filtered and purified, a reflection of my ongoing search for meaning and beauty in life. I believe that any over-saturated condition or emotional turbulence can become organized.
No matter what the tableau, I create spaces to distill the essence of abstraction and realism in which the ecstatic engagement with landscape, wildlife, human figures, shrines and mythical images emerge. Nothing and everything are in me, and I rely on a leap of faith to explore and interpret the way that I see the world; with inexhaustible expanse for hope, I bury one layer, I reveal another.
